Understanding the Challenge
Working as a freelance designer across various industries, the most consistent challenge was managing vague client briefs and scope creep. Many clients lacked digital fluency and struggled to articulate their visual needs, which often led to endless feedback loops and inefficient production cycles. The goal was to bridge this communication gap and deliver high-quality, budget-friendly design solutions.
The Approach
Instead of waiting for clear directives, I adopted a proactive, visual-first communication strategy. I realised that presenting tangible options and utilising real-time collaborative tools was the most effective way to align expectations, educate the client, and swiftly narrow down the creative direction.
The Execution
Visual-First Concepting: For clients with unclear requirements, I proactively designed and presented 3–5 distinct visual directions supported by concrete references. This strategy effectively eliminated guesswork and accelerated the decision-making process.
Interactive Client Collaboration: Minimised feedback friction by conducting face-to-face meetings and Zoom screen-sharing sessions. I also onboarded clients onto collaborative platforms like Figma and Miro, transforming a one-sided feedback loop into a transparent, interactive design process.
Dynamic Character Animation: Designed and animated character assets for a children’s educational app using After Effects. I translated flat character concepts into engaging, youth-focused motion graphics that brought the brand's IP to life, adapting complex animations to suit the client's specific budget constraints.

Maximised Asset Utility (100% Concept Adoption): The client was highly receptive to the initial presentation, approving all three proposed visual directions. Rather than discarding the alternative concepts, they were successfully repurposed to enrich secondary touchpoints, such as loading screens and 404 error pages, creating a more cohesive app ecosystem.
Streamlined Revision Loop: Presenting concrete visual options upfront prevented scope creep and major structural changes. Client feedback was strictly limited to minor, specific details (e.g., adding character accessories like hats), which were rapidly implemented directly within the working files.
Accelerated Project Delivery: The combination of clear initial concepts and agile, precise revisions drastically reduced the overall project timeline, ensuring a smooth and rapid handover without compromising quality.
